On June 6, 2017, Yuni Nguyen, President of the American Language Academy (ALA), met with President Chen Yongsheng, PhD., the President of Inner Mongolia University for the Nationalities (IMUN), and Xiu Changbai Vice President of Foreign Affairs and Academic Research.
The meeting coincided with the opening of an Art Exhibit featuring the works of faculty and students on IMUN’s campus. Ms. Nguyen’s delegation were welcomed by President and Ms. Yang Shuhua, Vice Director of Foreign Affairs, office who escorted the visiting group through the impressive art works highlighting the culture of the Inner Mongolian autonomous region. Ms. Nguyen and Dr. Chen toured the exhibit together.
Afterwards, Ms. Nguyen met with Ms. Yang Shuhua and department Deans who are interested in international programs from U.S. universities.
IMUN plans to cooperate in pursuing English teacher training, connecting and engaging in student and faculty exchanges with selected ALA partner universities, and exploring online and China-based ALA advanced English learning programs.
Here is a brief description of a few departments and thier areas of interest:
- Ao Wuliji, Dean of College of Traditional Mongolian Medicine – joint program in research and development of antidiabetic drugs and drugs for immunity enhancement;
- Wang Weiping, Dean of College of Physical Education – faculty exchange programs (faculty of shooting and wrestling from IMUN; and faculty of basketball, football or track and field events from the US);
- Zhang Shuyan Vice-Dean of College of Agriculture – student exchange program for undergraduates and postgraduates (short-term visits).
- Lu Guorong Dean of School of Foreign Languages expressed general interest and Wen Ze, Dean of the College of Music, is interested in expanding existing music exchange programs.
