On June 9, 2017, Yuni Nguyen, President of the American Language Academy (ALA), and Xiumei Ling, Vice president of Hulunbuir College (Hulunbuir), signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The Agreement establishes collaborative relations and a mutually beneficial association between the two institutions to promote friendship and to co-operate toward the internationalization of higher education.
The two leaders of Hulunbuir and of ALA have agreed that ALA will work together to provide Teacher Training to their faculty and Intensive English training to their students. Both also agree that ALA will serve as bridge to reach out for its University partners in the U.S. for 2+2 and faculty and student exchange program. Vice President Xiumei also wants to send her graduates to the US for Master Degree.
Ms. Nguyen and Vice President Xiumei agreed that there is common interest in seeking to develop programs that can better prepare Hulunbuir University students for further study in the USA and to improve the skills of the language faculty.
Projects are likely to include both teacher training and student learning; visits by Hulunbuir administration and faculty personnel to ALA’s Greensboro school; ALA language teachers visiting Hulunbuir and pilot projects for online learning long distance through the ALA Sky Campus.
Hulunbuir has a long and successful history of international cooperation with Russia and Mongolia. They are keen to explore opportunities in the United States for 2 + 2, Master’s transition programs, research and other exchanges. Hulunbuir has 22 colleges and 54 different undergraduate majors. Ms. Nguyen promised that ALA will act as a bridge between Hulunbuir and the appropriate universities among the 74 partners who provide pathway programs for ALA graduates.
